If you’ve ever wished for just a little more room to stretch out at night, this one’s for you. Meet the latest layout and accessory from Wayfarer Vans: the Slide Out Bed Extension.

It’s an optional upgrade to our standard bed platform that gives you more room to stretch out at night. Slide it open and you’ve got a 7-foot long sleeping surface. Slide it in and you’re back to the standard setup. Simple as that.

We may sound like a broken record, but our best ideas still come from listening to the Wayfarian community. Over the years, some of our taller Wayfarians have built their own bed extensions for a little extra room to stretch out. We’ve loved the creativity behind those solutions, and over the past year, we’ve been fine-tuning our own version to make this option available for everyone.

Why We Love The Slide Out Bed Extension

Stretch out at night
For anyone over 6 feet tall, this one’s a game changer. The extended layout gives you room to sleep comfortably without curling up or shifting diagonally to make it work.

No more crawling over your partner
Different sleep schedules? Waking up when nature calls? The north-south layout makes it easier to get in and out without climbing over each other.

King-sized comfort
With the extension in place, the sleeping surface is close to king-sized. Whether you’re sharing the bed with your partner, a furry travel companion, or a toddler, there’s room for everyone to spread out.

It stays out of the way
All that extra sleeping space doesn’t take away from your living area. The extension only slides out when you’re ready for bed, and tucks away during the day. If you’re traveling solo or don’t need the extra space, no problem. It still functions as your standard bed in the closed position.

The Nitty Gritty: Dimensions

• Extended sleeping area measures: 72″ W x 83.75″ L x 5″ H
• Adds 11″ to the bed length
• Same 5″ memory foam mattress
• Includes required 1.5″ bed risers (also compatible with our 2″ and 4″ riser accessories)

Is It Available For All Vans?

Almost.

The Slide Out Bed Extension is designed for our Walt, Wilma, and Wilford conversions. Walter (136” Wheelbase, High Roof, RAM ProMaster) isn’t compatible as the short wheelbase doesn’t give enough length to accommodate the bed rails. It’s also available as a retrofit for all generations of Wayfarer Vans.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Available only on layouts where the galley is not next to the bed
  • Layout 1 for Wilma and Wilford
  • Layouts 1 and 2 for Walt
• Works with the standard bed platform only. It is not compatible with the Twin Bed Dinette layout.
• If you have the double rear seat accessory, the seat will need to be lowered away from the wall and in the folded position to extend the bed
• Not compatible with the single rear seat accessory in Wilma and Wilford

How Do I Get It?

If you already have a Wayfarer conversion, you can visit us at our Colorado Springs HQ for a quick install. For Wayfarians with a Gen II (2023 or later) Wayfarer build, we can ship it directly to you for a simple DIY installation.
