Van Name: Clifford the Big Red Van
Vanniversary: Sept. 2020
Prior to owning the Wayfarer Walter conversion we would camp once or twice a year. Purchasing a van has opened up a whole new world of possibilities over the last four years. We’ve done a month-long cross country trip back from Oregon to New Hampshire to visit family, along with numerous weekend trips and a few week-long trips. One of the things I also love about owning Clifford the Big Red Van is its role as a mobile HQ for bike rides. Being able to have a place to change, chill out, or even store post-ride refreshments in our cooler has definitely upped our game. We looked at a lot of vans prior to Wayfarer including other class Bs, Class Cs, and even some micro trailers. It was the simplicity of Wayfarer Vans that really grabbed our attention. We are both believers in the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) philosophy. Mia and I have full-time jobs and being able to load up the van and take off for a weekend has been fantastic.
If I had to say one thing about Wayfarer Vans it would be don’t overthink it. If you’re like us, you’ve spent hours watching YouTube videos and reading #vanlife blogs, I can tell you that most of those are fantasy versus reality. Be honest about how you want and expect to use your van, and I guarantee that Wayfarer will be a good fit.
Van Name: Trixie
Vanniversary: June 2023
Hello fellow adventures! I’m absolutely thrilled to be a Vanbassador for Wayfarer Vans. I joined the Wayfarer family on June 12, 2023. This first year has been a whirlwind of outdoor exploration and unforgettable experiences. For over three decades, I’ve dreamt of having a van to call my own. Life, with its twists and turns—like raising kids and financial priorities—delayed that dream. But now, with my Wayfarer Van, I’ve found the perfect companion for my outdoor escapades.
I use my beloved van Trixie as the ultimate basecamp for all my adventures. Whether it’s hiking rim to rim in the Grand Canyon, fat biking the San Rafael Swell in Utah, camping in a “tent site” on the water in Key West or embarking on epic road trips, my Wayfarer Van has become an indispensable part of every journey. What drew me to Wayfarer Vans is their commitment to simplicity and durability in their conversions. It’s not just a vehicle; it’s a reliable partner that transforms effortlessly from mode of transport to cozy sanctuary wherever I roam. The ease of setup and the thoughtfully designed interior make it ideal for quick getaways and extended stays alike.
I’ve experienced firsthand the joy and freedom that comes with owning a Wayfarer Van, and I’m passionate about helping fellow adventurers discover if it’s the perfect fit for them too. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or just starting to explore the van life lifestyle, I’m here to answer your questions, share valuable tips, and hopefully inspire you to embark on new adventures while appreciating the beauty of our natural world.
Van Name: The Fundogz Van
Vanniversary: May 2023
My wife Annie and I are retired and live in South Lake Tahoe, California with our two dogs, Tula and Augie Doggie. We love having the van for longer road trips in the mountain west and on the coast, but we also love the fact that at any given time we are 80-90% ready to hit the road for spur of the moment trips as well. All we need to get rolling is to pack the appropriate clothes and load up the food and drink.
Our main activities while out and about in our van are mountain biking, photography, and dog fun. Whenever we are on the road we like to pull into shady parks for quick frisbee sessions with Augie. While our 17 year old senior dog Tula retired from mountain biking last year, Augie Doggie is always an eager and willing bike buddy.
I was a professional mountain biking guide for over ten years and always took great pleasure in sharing my love for mountain biking with others. I am looking forward to being a Wayfarer Vanbassador and doing the same with van life.
If you would like to check out my van, it is hard to come up with a better location than Lake Tahoe to do so. See you there.
Van Name: Sebastian
Vanniversary: Oct. 2022
Hi, I’m Vera Carter. This is Sebastian… my 2022 Ram ProMaster 2500 159” wheel base camper van that my husband and I enjoy so much.
I’m so glad I found Wayfarer Vans. They were the right fit for me. I love how I can customize my van and select components that work for the type of camping experience I enjoy. I love that Wayfarer Vans are so modular. I can add, remove or modify based on my trip.
Some of my non negotiables were a fixed bed—I didn’t want to have to set up or breakdown a bed every day; spacious, flexible storage—whether schlepping holiday gifts for family, taking all of the camping equipment, or traveling with bikes— having the option to convert the garage space based on our needs is priceless; finally, a kitchenette with a dedicated space to have meals was a must —beachfront, city park, or BLM, I’m covered. Wayfarer met all of those requirements and then some…and now we have our H.O.W. Home on Wheels.
Thanks, Wayfarer Vans!
Van Name: Ice Climber
Vanniversary: Aug. 2020
I use my van for everything from adventuring and camping to hotel replacement and vacation home on wheels!
I am a well-traveled adventure-minded person who loves the outdoors and outdoor activities. My van is named “Ice Climber” as that is one of my favorite winter activities. My van has enabled more adventures and more fun for my many outdoor passions such as snowboarding, camping, climbing, mountain biking, paddling, and many more.
I am stoked to be a Vanbassador because I am very passionate about my van and the adventure and experience lifestyle it helps me build and maintain!
Van Name: BARMY
Vanniversary: Nov. 2021
My husband and I love traveling. We spent 5 years living in Europe where the expense and ease of travel is quite opposite of what the US offers. When we moved back to the states we had an itch for travel and knew we needed to find the secret sauce to explore the states. We found the perfect fit, a Wayfarer Van, where we could keep exploring and adventuring at the pace we were in Europe. And, at an amazing low cost.
Our favorite van activities are finding BLM land and planning adventures around those areas so we can unplug from the hectic world and experience true nature. The feeling you get when it’s just you, your van, and the buzzing sounds of nature is unmatched and truly god-like. We also use the van in the winter to bum around ski resorts and avoid the insane hotel/Airbnb fees.
We now have a little toddler and we are excited to teach him to appreciate nature and pass on the travel bug so he can live as happy and fulfilled life as we are living!
Van Name: Sa’van’nah
Vanniversary: Feb. 2021
I became a member of the Wayfarer family in April 2021. At that time we were in the middle of Covid, my job shut down, I became single and an empty nester all at the same time. I said to myself, “now what?” I had a lot of time on my hands to think about what I wanted my next chapter in life to look like. I work as a school counselor with time off throughout the year as well as several months in the summer. I always dreamed of traveling and began to think, “how can I travel affordably and explore all the places I wanted to see?”
I came across Wayfarer Vans and fell in love instantly with the whole building concept – that it was affordable, simple, can fit in a parking spot, and the build be completed in one day! I bought a used van and drove it out to be built. I have put 40,000 miles on it since I got it and the most amazing memories have been created. The best part… I developed the courage to do it alone!
I’m thrilled to be a Vanbassador. If it wasn’t for Wayfarer I wouldn’t have been able to afford this lifestyle and love this new travel life of mine!
