We’ve got some exciting news to share – Wayfarer Vans has been named the Best Camper Van for 2025 by Outside Magazine! That’s right, out of all the camper vans out there, Outside gave us the top nod for affordability, modularity, and durability. They also highlighted a couple of things that make us unique: our quick 2–3 day conversion process and the option to convert a used van, something you don’t often see in this industry.

Check out the Outside article here.

It’s great to see that three of the four category-winning adventure rigs in Outside’s lineup are from right here in Colorado. Tune Outdoors in Denver was recognized for their truck bed campers, and Boreas Campers in Pueblo was named the best off-road trailer. Independent businesses are making their mark alongside major RV manufacturers, and we’re proud to be part of that momentum.

From a Soggy Tent to a Thriving Community

Wayfarer Vans began in 2015 with a simple idea: there had to be a better way to camp than struggling with a soggy tent. Our founder and Chief Van Operator, Ian Horgan, took that idea and turned it into reality. He started in a one-car garage, and today, our small but mighty team of 20 people builds, designs, and installs adventure-ready camper van conversions in our thriving Colorado Springs shop.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve converted more than 1,100 vans, and we’ve built a community of Wayfarians from coast to coast. Most of our customers make the trip to Colorado Springs for their conversions, and since we pre-build all the furniture and interior components, we can transform an empty cargo van into a fully functional camper in just two to three days – a fraction of the time compared to traditional builds.

Simple, Quality Camper Vans – No Fuss, Just Adventure

We specialize in converting specific models of the RAM ProMaster and Ford Transit cargo vans. Our builds start at $22,000, and even when you factor in the cost of a new or used van, our campers are still a cost-effective alternative to mass-produced vans that often cost upwards of $100,000, or even $200,000.

At the heart of it all, our goal is simple: build high-quality camper vans that make it easier for people to get outside, have fun, and create lifelong memories. And now, with Outside Magazine’s seal of approval, we’re excited to help even more adventurers hit the road.
