Where do you live?

Eric:
I live in Santa Barbara, CA

WV:
How long have you had your Wayfarer Van?

Eric:
I have had my van for about five months!

WV:
Does your van have a name? If so, what is it? Is there a story behind it?

Eric:
My van doesn’t have a name…yet. I was considering all the usual suspects. Vincent Van Go, Jean-ClaudeVan Van, Tiny Vancer, and the controversial Princess DiVana. However, I was talking with a friend who had a van and he told me that this is one of those things that you can’t force. One day the universe will produce a name for it. Until then I need to be patient.

WV:
What’s your favorite spot you and your Wayfarer Van have been, so far, and why?

Eric:
I love the Bishop/Owen’s River area in California. It’s just so beautiful and the climbing is top-notch. However, the great thing about my van is that anywhere I go with it is my new favorite spot!

WV:
What was the first thing you learned/discovered when you took your camper van out for its maiden voyage?

Eric:
People are interested in it! Van dwelling or Van Life is catching on and people are curious to learn more. It’s fun to show folks around my tiny home on wheels.

WV:
What’s been your biggest challenge while traveling in your Wayfarer Van and how did you overcome it?

Eric:
There are a few additional blind spots when driving a van that you don’t get in a typical car. Overall the learning curve for driving a van was not as difficult as I thought it was going to be. These days I’m a pro!

WV:
Do you have a favorite or essential travel item that you never leave behind? If so, what is it and why?

Eric:
My entire life is in my van, so I don’t have to worry about leaving anything behind. It all comes along for the ride!

WV:
Do you have a big trip planned or in mind? If so, where and why?

Eric:
An implicit rule in owning a van is that you should always have a trip planned. From the get go I wanted to take some ski trips in my van, and I think a weekend visit to Mammoth Mountain is in the cards. I would love to travel to other big name resorts I have not been to yet, as well.

WV:
What has been the most memorable experience or pleasant surprise while traveling in your Wayfarer?

Eric:
This is not so much a surprise, but I find it incredibly pleasant to wake up with the sunrise and a hot cup of tea when out camping in my Wayfarer. I will say it was a very memorable and fun experience to help install the kit at the Wayfarer Vans workshop!

WV:
What is it that you love the most about your Wayfarer Van (could be an unexpected benefit)?

Eric:
The Walter Kit comes with everything you need to really make your van livable. Lots of open space, sink/kitchen, and a big comfy bed. Fantastic!

WV:
Why did you choose a Wayfarer Van and what advice would you give to others who are considering Wayfarer?

Eric:
I chose Wayfarer Vans because it offers great design in the Walter kit with quality construction and a quick installation time at an affordable price. Do I really have to say more?!

WV:
Final words or comments—anything you’d like others to know?

Eric:
A little context—I do live in my van full time while getting my master’s degree and it’s pretty great. There are freedoms and simplicities that come with this lifestyle that are entirely unique to it. If you have the interest and means to get a van for travel or for full time occupation, then I say go for it. You only live once, and life is better with fewer hassles, more to see, and plenty of friends 🙂
