Have you ever been on a road trip, cruising along a route you love when a side road pops up that looks even better?

Yeah, we’ve been there too. And that’s kind of how we feel about our new power station option.

For years, we’ve relied on the Goal Zero products to power our conversions, and we’ve been genuinely happy with how they’ve performed. But recently, we found a new option that checks even more boxes, and we knew this was the right turn to take.

Meet the Oupes Mega 2, our newest power station accessory. It’s more affordable, packs in the most advanced technology and has enough outlets to keep the juice running to all your devices. Whether you’re charging your phone, running lights, or keeping that fridge cold, you won’t have to choose one over the other.

Let’s take a closer look at why we’re excited about this new addition, and why it might be the right fit for your adventures too. We’ve tested it, traveled with it, and we’re genuinely excited to offer this new option. Here’s why the Oupes Mega 2 might be the perfect fit for your van life setup:

Simple, High-Quality and Modular

At Wayfarer, we believe in keeping things simple. No complicated wiring diagrams or rat’s nests of cables. The Oupes Mega 2 fits right in with our philosophy. It’s an all-in-one power station that slides neatly into our boot box and supports all of your van’s functions. No complex battery systems here. Whether you’re just getting started or you’re a seasoned camper, it’s designed to be easy to use and understand.

Powerful

With a 2,048Wh capacity, the Oupes offers 25% more power than our previous option. That means more juice for your fridge, lights, devices and anything else you want to run off-grid.

Reliable

The Mega 2 is built with one of the most advanced and dependable battery types on the market. It’s called LiFePO4, which stands for lithium iron phosphate, and it’s top-of-the-line when it comes to battery tech. Compared to older battery types, it has some pretty great advantages:

  • Lasts longer: You can recharge it thousands of times without losing performance. In fact, it offers seven times more charge cycles than our previous power station.

  • Runs cooler: It naturally stays cooler than other battery types, making it safer and better suited for enclosed spaces like your van.

  • More consistent: It delivers steady, reliable power without flickers or drops.

Useful

This thing is packed with 13 outlets and 2 inputs, so you’re never short on plugs. Here’s what you get:

  • 4 AC outlets: Just like regular wall outlets, these are great for charging laptops or small appliances
  • 2 USB-C ports: The newer, oval shaped USB ports used by many newer phones, watches and headphones.
  • 4 USB-A ports: The classic, rectangular USB ports you’ve used for years to charge phones, cameras and other devices.
  • 2 12V DC outputs: Sometimes called “cigarette lighter sockets” these provide direct current (DC) power, which is perfect for running many portable fridges, air compressors or electric blankets.
  • 1 Anderson recharging input: A heavy-duty connector that lets you recharge your power station from solar panels or the eTaker vehicle charging system.
  • 1 car lighter port: For recharging your power station directly from your vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket.

It also recharges up to 8-10x faster on AC power compared to our previous power station. That means when you plug it into a regular wall outlet, it charges in a fraction of the time. Instead of needing to charge it overnight, you can be ready to roll in just a few hours. That’s a big deal when you’re on the move and need to top off while grabbing lunch, stopping at a friend’s house, or getting work done at a coffee shop.

Versatile

Charge it your way. The Oupes Mega 2 is compatible with our full range of accessories, including solar, shore power, and our newest addition: the eTaker vehicle recharging system accessories.

E-what? That’s our new charging accessory. Let’s break it down.

The eTaker lets you charge your power station straight from your van’s alternator. So anytime your engine is running, your power station is getting topped off, whether you’re on a road trip or just running errands. In most cases, the eTaker can fully recharge the Oupes Mega 2 in about 4 hours of drive time. That might vary slightly depending on your van, the environment and if you have added our solar kit.

And don’t worry. It won’t drain your vehicle’s battery. The system draws power only while the engine is running, so your van will always start when you need it.

We include professional installation of the eTaker during your van’s conversion and wire it directly to your Oupes Mega 2 – or any other compatible power station if you have something different.

Affordable

You’d think a better battery would also come with a bigger price tag. Nope. We’re able to drop our price 12% (about $200). That’s a win-win.

Backed by Confidence

The Oupes Mega 2 comes with a solid 5-year warranty, because they’re confident this power station will meet your needs for the long haul.

FAQ

I have a Goal Zero power station, what do I need to do? Nothing. Many of our team members have Goal Zero power stations in their personal vans, and they’ll keep using them as long as they are meeting their needs.

Can I use other power stations in a Wayfarer? Absolutely! If you’ve got a Goal Zero, Bluetti or another power station you prefer, that’s totally fine with us. Our team is trained on the Oupes Mega 2 system and it works seamlessly with our conversions, but you’re always welcome to install a different system on your own if that’s what works best for you.

I’ve never heard of Oupes. Are they legit? We did our homework here. Oupes has been around for more than a decade. They have their own U.S.-based customer service team and have a 4.5 star overall record of reviews with more than 77% 5-star ratings on Trustpilot.

How do you pronounce Oupes? It sounds like “oh-piss.” But that’s something you’ll never have to say with how reliable this power system is.
