136″ WHEELBASE, HIGH ROOF
It may be the middle of winter, but we know you’re already dreaming of summer adventures. At Wayfarer Vans, we’re passionate about camping and dedicated to building the best camper vans out there. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our latest accessory, the rooftop air conditioner, so you can stay cool and comfortable during the hottest days of the year!
We’re introducing the Velit 2000R rooftop air conditioner, a simple, high quality solution to keeping your camper van cool and comfortable. This compact system opens up a world of possibilities for Wayfarians who live in warmer climates, travel year-round or need a safe spot to leave their furry friends.
The Velit 2000R rooftop air conditioner is perfect for anyone looking to keep their camper van cool and comfortable. Its compact design adds just 8.5 inches to your van’s exterior height and features a low profile interior, eliminating the risk of those dreaded nighttime head bonks. With swiveling air vents, a remote control, and a thermostat that cools down to a crisp 61 degrees, it’s packed with features to keep you comfortable no matter the heat. In our real-world testing, the A/C proved capable of cooling the van’s interior by 20-25 degrees below the outside temperature.
Professional installation is included with your purchase and completed during your van’s conversion. Already a Wayfarian? No problem—the rooftop air conditioner can be retrofitted to your existing conversion at Wayfarer Vans HQ.
If you want air conditioning in your van, there is no way around needing a reliable power source. While there are a few options, our strongest recommendation is to pair it with our shore power accessory.
The A/C system plugs into a standard 110v outlet (just like the ones you’d find in your home). Shore power is going to give you limitless and continuous power, simply from plugging in at a campground or even parked in a friend’s driveway. Curious about how it works? Head over to our shore power product page for details on this simple power solution.
There are other ways to power the air conditioning in your camper van, but they come with some trade-offs:
Not necessarily. We’ve been camping without it for years, and depending on your climate and preferred style of camping, we know that the MaxxAir vent fan(s) will offer all the ventilation that many people need.
Because of the higher cost of the A/C unit and installation, we’ve made it an optional accessory so that only those who truly want it can add it to their conversion.
Adding A/C is just one option for keeping your van comfortable in warmer weather. Every Wayfarer Vans conversion comes insulated with a healthy dose of Havelock wool, which does an excellent job of keeping the heat out. Don’t forget the easy things like parking in the shade and putting up your window covers. Lowering the insulated partition to separate the cab from the living area is also a great way to keep things cooler, as the cab tends to absorb the most heat thanks to the huge windshield.
Vent fans are another tried-and-true cooling solution. We’ve relied on them for years, and even If you’ve added A/C, a vent fan is still a valuable tool. Use it to pull air in or out of the van, or for general circulation when A/C isn’t needed.
Yes! If you already have an existing Wayfarer conversion, we can retrofit it with the rooftop air conditioning unit. If you have a vent fan installed above the bed, we’ll place the A/C in that same spot since the roof cutout is the exact same size. If you’d like to keep your vent fan, we can reinstall it in the forward location of your van.
The only limitation is for rooftop solar panels. Due to limitations with the vehicle dimensions, Ford vans (Wilford, Wilma) that have both the A/C and a front MaxxAir vent fan will only have space for one 200W rooftop solar panel. Our RAM ProMaster conversions (Walt, Walter) have room for the A/C, front vent fan, and two solar panels.
Ready to stay cool and comfortable on your summer adventures? Add our rooftop air conditioner to your van today and enjoy a more relaxed, enjoyable camping experience, no matter how hot it gets outside.
