Wayfarer Vans’ first Transit Trail recently arrived at our Colorado Springs HQ and was, in true Wayfarer style, converted in no time flat. Owners Abby and Mark purchased this beautiful off-road beast through one of Wayfarer Vans’ local dealer partners, dropped it at the shop, and let our crew get to work!

Unfamiliar with the Transit Trail? We’ll let outlets like Car & Driver do the heavy lifting on all the side-by-side details but in short, the Trail is Ford’s nod to off road enthusiasts that want to blend comfort and style with capability.

A few of the Trail package’s key perks include:

  • 3.5-inch overall ride height increase
  • 2.5-inch larger tires
  • 2.25-inch body lift
  • Slider-style driver and passenger side steps
  • Skid plate-style front bumper

Thanks to the same base design and interior specs as Ford’s standard Transit cargo van, the high roof Trail is an ideal candidate for Wayfarer’s Wilford camper van conversion (Ford Transit 148” wheelbase, high-roof van). For road warriors who seek a conversion with simplicity and durability at heart, it’s a match made in heaven.

The Wilford conversion comes standard with insulated flooring, L-track cargo tracks, 100% wool insulation, patented insulated soft panels, bed platform, kitchen galley, two cushioned high-back boot boxes, Lagun swivel table, enclosed upper cabinets, and a series of high end finishing touches like integrated LED puck lights and magnetic window coverings.

There are also lots of accessories available for professional installation by our team to make camping even more capable. This includes things like the Propex Heater, vent fans, bed risers, and vented windows.

At Wayfarer Vans, we’ve always loved the Ford Transit for its all wheel drive versatility and bombproof reliability. We’re excited to extend that love to all the outdoorsy folks who want just a little more straight-from-the-factory ruggedness.
